One owner’s watch from new. This timeless IWC Portugieser Chronograph was purchased new from Sincere Watch in Singapore and according to the owner, he purchased it on 31st Dec 1999, the eve of the millennium.
The watch shows some light wear with fine dings on the bezel rim but is otherwise generally in very good condition throughout. The strap has been replaced and this early model came with the ardillon buckle. This Ref.3714 was introduced in 1998 with production ending in 2020. It had a long run of 22yrs and was the darling of many watch collectors in the two decades.
The enduring model features a generous 41mm case with a thin bezel and a design that dates back to the 1930s. The classic silver dial has rose gold Arabic numerals, minute dots & matching hands while the 30 minutes counter and sweep centre seconds hand are heated blued steel. The movement was a modified Valjoux 7750 which offers reliability and finely finished to very high standards.
Good value with complete accessories and an iconic model. The current replacement model retails for S$12600.00.
